ALSO THIS WEEK: We round up the pop, RnB, space synth and Neo-soul-zydeco (?!) of July’s new music from New Orleans, PLUS we have two great first night reviews of two classic summer plays: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, both playing in the city through July 27th - Dorian Hatchett sends his reports.
SPECIAL COMMUNITY APPEAL: University of New Orleans philosophy professor Frank Schalow died suddenly on May 25 at the age of sixty-eight. He was affable, generous, and brilliant. His friends are looking for support for care of the two dozen cats that Frank left behind, and are just short of their goal. He had no living relatives, and this colony and dear friends were his family. Click here for more information. Thank you.
OK, we’ll be back next week - thanks to our sponsor for this newsletter, The Commons Club Restaurant at Virgin Hotel New Orleans - check out their deliciously refreshing summer menu. There’s also a very cool comedic storytelling show - CAMPfire (with local legend Saya Meads and more) - this week, flyer down below. For now, stay cool, and much love.
