If you’ve lived in or visited New Orleans for any amount of time, you’ve likely seen SOME version of Tennessee Williams’ ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’. It’s hard to come up with an original interpretation at this point, but that’s exactly what Lefty Lucy (pictured) is doing with her new production ‘A Peep Show Named Desire’. It’s a look at Blanche Dubois via vaudeville comedy, burlesque, musical pieces and so much more. We caught up with Lefty for a sneak preview, which you can read all about HERE!
There’s still time to catch Trey Ming’s original musical, ‘Fairyland’, and this week the Sisters of Saint Claude, Qween Quan and Seth Robichaux all bring their various talents to great shows around town. Get the full lowdown on this week’s burlesque, drag and variety right here! This week, we’ve also got Dynamo’s latest toy recommendation, plucked from their delightful shop shelves (NSFW images!).
If you’re wandering around the Quarter for French Quarter Festival, Up All Night are also producing Sobou’s Courtyard Fest, a showcase of local singer-songwriters with a diverse array of performers. It’s free on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-8pm, at The W Hotel, 316 Chartres. Hope to see you there, or if not around town, and in the meantime, have a wonderful week and as always, much love to you.
