The spring holiday weekend is upon us, and despite the disappointment that the glitter-strewn wonder of the Gay Easter Parade isn’t happening in NOLA this year, we still have a good amount of show-shaped Easter eggs for you to hunt down.
Maybe it’s spring combined with the vaccine roll-out, but there’s an unabashed sense of optimism in the events listings this week. It might even be the most live shows that have happened in the same week since we started this newsletter six whole months ago. Yes, they’re small, intimate events so that people can mask and distance safely, but the green shoots of the live entertainment recovery are starting to appear.
If you missed Trixie Minx’s livestream from dba last week, you can catch up on demand and help support her sexy, stellar cast. We also have a Fool’s Day Cabaret on the docket, as well as a positively pagan celebration of Oestre. For Sunday itself, our producers are on it like an Easter bonnet, and there’s a series of Gay Easter Passion Plays and a silent disco in your events basket.
Hopefully Easter will be back to normal next year, but given the circumstances, that’s not too shabby a line up. We’ll also soon be looking to see if and how KS parties can make a return - we’ll be doing a few updates and surveys on the Facebook group (anyone already in the group can add you if you’re not already a member) and through here, so think about how the sex +ve community in NOLA can come back safely for you, and if you have any thoughts we’ll be keen to hear them in the very near future!
In the meantime, enjoy your Easter weekend, however you like your eggs. Take care, and much love to you all!
