What constitutes a life well lived? It’s something we all wrestle with. Occasionally here at UAN:NO we’ll be reading and we’ll come across a quote that makes us think. We were down a Quentin Crisp rabbit hole this week and we found the following, which struck us as one to share:
“Neither look forward where there is doubt, nor backward where there is regret, but look inward, and ask yourself not whether there is anything out there that you want and had better grab before nightfall, but whether there is anything inside you which you have not yet unpacked. Be certain that before you fold your hands and step into your coffin, that the little you can do, and say and be, is completed.”
Not to get too deep on a Thursday lunchtime but that does seem like a worthwhile philosophy, and it also reminded us of Liz Carmichael, the subject of the documentary ‘The Lady and The Dale’, who also lived a life of authenticity in many ways. Her story is pretty incredible, and we’ve written a short review for you.
New Orleans continues its own journey back to a life approaching ‘normal’, and it seems like more and more events pop up every week now. As usual, it’s a mix between online events and safe, masked, distanced shows so you can still curate your own comfort while finding fun stuff to support. Here’s the week in burlesque, drag and sex-positive happenings.
Our (M)embers Area Star this week is the fiery Ember Blaize, who delivers a live video treat to remind us of what might be on the horizon. You can find and see more of Ember at her Instagram and her OnlyFans!
You can find us at our own Instagram and Facebook pages, so give us a follow for updates and special offers between newsletters! In the meantime, stay safe and let’s keep living our best lives, with hopefully better times just around the corner!
Much love,
Up All Night: New Orleans
