Before anything else, a very Happy New Year from Up All Night: New Orleans - we sincerely hope that your 2022 is a successful, safe and seriously fun one. It’s the first day of Carnival here in New Orleans, so enjoy those first slices of King Cake if you indulge. The early parades tonight kick off the events that lead us up to Mardi Gras on March 1st, and fingers crossed most of the schedule can happen on some scale. It feels like we need it this year more than ever, as long as it can happen safely.
The first shows of 2022 are lining up nicely. It’s likely going to be a tough year for reproductive rights, and there’s a very opportune benefit for the great people at New Orleans Abortion Fund this Saturday (8pm, AllWays Lounge). All monies go to the charity and if you can’t attend but would like to support, feel free to Venmo @upallnightnola and we’ll add your generous contribution to the total. Big hitters such as Roll for Seduction and Secrets of the Sea also contribute to a tantalizing first week, as does Mz Juno’s Cabaret Noir and a host of drag shows all over town. Get the latest on what’s happening right here!
As always these days, check in with the venues about their entry requirements and to check for last minute cancellations! That aside, a very happy Carnival/Mardi Gras season to you all - here’s to the costuming, carousing and king cake babies that we’ll hopefully enjoy over the next two months. Much love, and stay safe.
